Angels

I decided to take a poll, to see what people thought about angels. Of all the people I asked, I got 29 answers. Here are the results:

What do you think of angels?

1) I think angels are created by God, and are physical beings, created different than people. – 21 vote(s)

3) I think angels are an emotion, and an idea to promote peace in the world. – 1 vote(s)

I have gotten lots of interesting answers, and I would like to thank all of you who participated in my poll.

Quite a few of the people I asked not only answered the poll, but had given me some of their insightful thoughts, too. Here are their comments:

“Well, I believe they're real (the Bible talks about them) and that they are actually beings. I don't know if they have physical bodies like ours, but I do believe they are beings created by God.”

“I believe that angels DO exist. But, I don't think that they are ‘physical’. They are created by God but only to do his will. It can be controversial. Mainly, because people also believe angels to be physical because they were cast out of heaven.
My response to THIS would be that, after they were cast down, they became demons (or followers of Satan). And demons can TAKE a human form by possession or claiming of. But They can't ‘become’ humans of their own will. Most of this is a summery of what C.S. Lewis said.
So in my opinion, I believe that angels are created, heavenly beings that have no physical qualities, but they MIGHT have the ability to ‘posses’ humans - in a good way, of course.”

“Angels- Hebrews 13:1-2. I would say that they CAN be physical beings. Yes they do exist. I am not sure I know much about angels.”

“I voted for the first one, I think they can look like people, but if they always do, I don't know. Interesting question, I never really thought much about angels…”

“Wasn't Satan actually a fallen angel? I do believe in angels. But I sometimes wonder how often they come to earth and walk around in human form. I know the Bible says you may entertain angels unawares, so I'm wondering, how often does that happen? And how can you tell? Can you tell? And what do you think? We need more serious questions like this one.”

“Um..... I think that the Bible is not very clear on what exactly angels are. I think that they are real. That God created them. That demons are bad angels. Any specific questions?”

“I believe in angels. All that you asked, I think are authentic to what I believe. The main reason I BELIEVE in angels, is because I have experienced them before. I have seen my little sister [deceased], so has my mom, on the day that my mom went into labor with my little brother. I truly believe she was sent as an angel to my mom, as a comforter. I have friends that are angels. Lucifer used to be an angel in heaven, but was cast out because of his evil heart. (For exact reference see: Isaiah. {I cant remember the exact verse...if you want I can look it up.} So, in conclusion, I believe in angels. Angels who are created by God, for a purpose. I believe that they can be friends, loved ones, or just plain created beings by God. Its hard to explain... hope I made sense!”

“I haven't given this a lot of thought/study. But my first instinct is to say: I definitely believe in Angels. The Bible reveals to us that people encountered/can encounter angels. I believe that they are created beings and can take on a human looking form as well as other forms. I believe that God sends them to warn us, help us, or even just proclaim something - like when angels appeared to both Joseph & Mary explaining the virgin birth & that they would be parenting the Messiah. And angels appeared to the shepherds to proclaim the birth of Christ. I am not certain but I assume that angels have a free will & can choose to disobey God - After all Satan & the demons are fallen angels. I wish I had more time to explore this topic & back up my beliefs with Scripture but I am at a loss for time.”
